what you will need

What you will need:

  • Mod Podge
  • Scissors
  • 4 printed Photos
  • 4 wood rounds (can purchase at Hobby Lobby)
  • Scrap Book Paper with your design of choice
  • Small Paintbrush
  • Paint in color of choice
  • Thin burlap colored ribbon
  • Stamp Pad
  • Pencil
  • Glue Gun
  • Stamp(s) of choice
trace circles and cut

Using a pencil trace each of the wood rounds onto your choice of design paper and each of your printed photos. Once traced then cut pictures and the design paper to size.

Before adhering your photos and design paper to each of your wood rounds, double check for a good fit! As we all know, once you apply anything with Mod Podge it can be almost impossible to remove it. I learned this the hard way! lol.

Using your choice of paint color and a small paintbrush paint around each wood round; completely covering all of the edges.

I used Waverly white chalk paint for this DIY.

Once paint is dried around the edges, use gentle strokes and a generous amount of mod podge to one side of each wood round and attach each of the four pieces of pre cut design paper to each wood round.

Use the stamp pad and your choice of a word phrase, initials or a sweet little quote to add an extra personal touch. When stamping ink has completely dried add a generous layer of Mod Podge over the decorative paper and stamping to provide a seal.

Next, use hot glue and your choice of ribbon to attach ribbon around each side of the wood rounds. You can also choose to leave out this step! Remember this is your personalized gift so go with your own personal style.

Again, use Mod Podge and the pre-cut photos to adhere them to the opposite side of each wood round. Once the photos adhere to the wood and are completely dried, use your Mod Podge to seal over the photo with gentle strokes of mod podge using a soft brush. This will keep photos protected from moisture and spills.

The coaster box was added later to keep the coasters out for display. You can buy a coaster box, or make one. Another great option is to simply wrap your coasters in a pretty Valentine ribbon or Burlap. This personalized and easy little DIY will surely put a smile on the face of the one you love.
